This is 'peacefully', a new video game from Outhouse Media. The game, designed by artist/director Caliber, takes place in a world where the Dakota Access Pipeline has just been discovered at the mouth of the Missouri River. What is now known as the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument continues to receive heavy political scrutiny and protest back in North Dakota, Oregon, and California. The game also features a new voiceover by resident feminist writers and activists, Lauren Southern and Holly Anderson.
The game actor Caliber explains in the video how the world needs to do what is necessary to keep the movement and the movement's house from being torn down. "There are many who don't want to see a peaceful transition of the ground," she says. "They see us as a suicide cult. They're saying, 'We're not going to let you go.' They're afraid of what's happening here. There's a special kind of group that uses violence to control the rest of us, to pretend we're not a problem." "I believe that an open space for dialogue as well as decision-making authority is crucial to any all-inclusive, just transition," she adds. "We need to bring our tribes together. Tribal people, there's a lot to talk about. I think that the Dakota Access Pipeline is the most extreme example, as far as the yet-to-be-discovered reality of the Dakota Access Pipeline."
