The team behind it looks to explain what the concept is about in its own video "Why Are You Playing This Game?".
The idea behind it is to provide an immersive virtual reality experience "to the majority of Game Pro's that haven't gone through hooking up with a VR headset". It's based on Valve's SteamVR, which allows gamers to take a hands-free, 360-degree game and overlay pixelated 3D environments onto it, allowing them to instantly feel the difference. It's used in a number of other games including SimCity (the great sim card game in success). A demo is available here (Aiming, with a few glitches, which some have dubbed 'Assassin's Creed Horror').
