This is 'gone beyond', a new video game from Outhouse Media. Drive is now available as an Open Beta on Steam Early Access.
The game looks so cool. It was balanced around a simple, high-octane system, apparently tailor-made for a mobile game. There's a loading screen, tips, tips, tutorial, tutorials… and of course, maybe a mission. There's also a sweet 'what if' section if you like. This kind of stuff isn't rare in games, though: 30 years ago Rockstar (the studio behind Grand Theft Auto) and Square (the studio behind many of its games) created Mission Impossible, a sequel that was released on consoles around the same time. It's brilliant, because you can see the characters in action from a distance. These days, most of the big mobile games don't try to mimic what you'd see in a Mission Impossible movie. You get a fly-by-night style, a world that can be at war with you, and superhero-esque powers. Look at movies like Batman (which is good, because Batman is human?) and Hitman (which is better for your brain than this video game, I guess). Take Max Payne 2, for example. It's the biggest open beta of all time, and while there's no single edit that makes it a great game, this one looks like the best time-lapse video game ever made.
