The gamer, known only as 'Thane', visits Britain, visiting a museum and finding a family who makes one of their favorite Christmas products, Nutella. The film's "charming" premise sees 'Thane' navigating a movie-themed comedy film by exploring different aspects of the UK.
Despite the film's quirky premise, 'Thane' is actually pretty solid, and will be of interest to anyone that loves Christmas documentaries. The film follows 'Thane' and his neon-eyed "family of housemates" as they try and stay warm by purchasing a housewarming present, a white Nutella concentrate-filled "Christmas special" box. The message of "diversified economies" is pretty much the same as 'Fruitvale Station', wherein the audience wonders if the government is truly spending their money wisely. During the first half of the film, 'Thane' is introduced to one of the government's biggest tax schemes, a plan to tax 'diversified economies'. A week later, the government gets into legal trouble for violating its own tax policy, and a week after that, he's asked to pay a huge fine ($75,000). The film's defining scene comes after 'Thane' and his friends are put through the wringer in a tax preparation department's tax office.
