This is 'achieve the', a new video game from Outhouse Media. The title is not a literal translation of the thing the player is being tortured with, but rather a personalised version of an animal as a 'torture victim'.
It's a commercial for the game Meatballs: Buried Alive, which is expected to begin releasing this week across the Americas. The product description is very clear: 'A creative and satirical account of Buried Alive; a video game in which players play a specialized animal as subject of abuse. In Buried Alive, players use various painful and effective tools — including a barrel torture machine, rigged curtains, and various forms of torture — to develop the animal's body and mind under extreme conditions.' It's the same game Outhouse Media was behind, and I thought it was a pretty truly disturbing idea. Then, a few days later, a Twitter account spoke of Pizza Planet's publication of a documentary on torture within the Buried Alive family, and a video of a man being restrained in a machine and then being repeatedly strapped back on. Pizza Planet spokesperson Nina Halmor-García has yet to respond to requests for comment. But so far, just about anyone that's actually heard of torture has been quick to point out that there is little cause for concern when it comes to the product – just a bunch of guys screaming and beating each other up over something that they're clearly not happy about.
